This is a great way to add website "apps" to your home screen for services that don't have them. Video game music radio site Rainwave, which we used above, is a good example. It's a lot better than having to open Safari and jump to a bookmark every time you want to visit a particular site. Here's how to make any website an app on your iPhone, allowing you to access shortcuts right from your home screen. On your iPad, open Safari and navigate to the website you’d like to put on your Home screen. Once there, make sure you can see the navigation toolbar by tapping once near the top of the screen, which will make it appear.
Then when the options for sharing show up, SCROLL DOWN ... There are a lot more options further down including "Add to Home Screen". Not sure I like the new location, but it is there. Were you able to set up the shortcut properly and open bookmarks directly in Chrome? What do you think about this neat workaround? First in Safari, directly add a website to home screen iPhone. Apple's most powerful Mac will finally shift to Apple silicon. Navigate to the site that you want to create a Home screen shortcut to. In the list of options that appears, scroll down until you see Add to Home Screen. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the page .
Turning off WiFi does seem to get around this issue. The only downside is you don't get the favicon icon in the shortcut when you do that - but you do get the whole url. If you install the iPhone Configuration Utility, you can make custom icons on the home screen with custom URLs (including app URL schemes as long as you're OK with going through Safari first).

The OP is navigating to the page he wants and is attempting to add it to the home screen, but the URL he's getting is not the one he navigated to . The added home screen shortcut ends with .org. Everything after that is chopped off for some reason.
